According to the article, violence against women was already a huge problem in Haiti before the quake, but now, since many women have lost their husbands and brothers, protection is almost non-existent. Rape and other forms of domestic and sexual violence is at an all-time high as the majority of women are forced to sleep in open camps with up to 3,000 other strangers.
