Smoke Jackson Meets Kobe Bryant (briefly)

Hey, Smoke Jackson here. Today was a really crazy day.

If you can believe it, I met L.A. Lakers' Super Star, Kobe Bryant. You know, "Kobe Bryant/ slam dunk giant/ out play the cold/ son don't try it."

It was a very brief encounter. I saw him walking out of practice... and just like Evan Lysacek, he was crying. THE Kobe Bryant, crying right in front of lowly me, Smoke Jackson. As he struggled with his gym bag and cell phone, I said, "Hey Kobe, want some help?"

He said, while trying to wipe his eyes, "Yes, hey... aren't you Smoke Jackson from YogueIN??" His question caught me by suprise and I stumbled a little bit over my words. After a couple of moments of thinking of something clever to say. I finally just said "Yes, nice to meet you man".

We exchanged pleasantries as we walked to his car when finally I worked up the courage to ask him, "Hey Kobe, why are you crying?"

As I asked the question, he began to smile. He told me "Hey Smoke, don't worry, these are tears of joy!" "Tears of Joy???" I questioned, "What is causing these joyful tears?" He then went on to explain that he had created the most wonderful thing with his teammates. He said that in practice they had named it the "BaldHeadGrab-Hug".

He beamed with pride as he unveiled the name of his creation and looked down at me expectantly. It was in that moment that I started to cry. I handed back his cell phone and walked away. I cried for the rest of the day.

How do you feel about the BaldHeadGrab-Hug?
