Vocabulary Lesson: The "Shakes"

The Shakes (noun)
  1. The feeling you get when you first wake up and are unsure of where you are and if you are awake or dreaming.
  2. A condition after you first wake up that makes you say angry things and not understand the people around you, but still feel like you are speaking and acting normally and everyone else around you is crazy.
  3. A person with 'The Shakes' usually answers their phone in a sleep mode and cannot focus on the conversation and gets frustrated that their brain won't form correct words and thoughts.
  4. Generally, you can know that you have the shakes if you 1. Recently got up 2. Woke up without laying in your bed for at least 5 minutes 3. Your limbs feel like they are shaking 4. Anyone says "you should probably go back to sleep" 5. You have an overall sick feeling after a nap.

  1. ha, i am eternally plagued with the Shakes. the worst part is that you are trying so hard to make sense of things but you just cant...rully....

  2. yeah you DEF get the shakes, but you get the kind of shakes where you can't evne get up out of bed. I get the shakes where I get up way too soon/fast and then like if anyone looks at me I feel like theyre being mean to me. One time, mom called me at school and I had the shakes and it was during finals and she was like " yeaaah...you should probably go to bed and i'll check ya later" so that was funny... rully?

  4. My roommates were supposed to go on a train to some other city in Austria a couple weeks ago: meeting point Train Station 9am. So at 9:15 some girls from their group called them.
    "Hello??" Groggy voice
    "Umm, Jenny, why aren't you here?!"
    "What?"
    "Jenny, we're leaving in 10 minutes!"
    "HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!?"

    I think the how did this happen question is legit, and maybe even an example of the shakes.
