Skype Phones!
Verizon Wireless smartphone users will be able to download skype directly to their phones. Skype is a service that allows subscribers to video conference/call other skype users anywhere in the world for free. So, Verizon users would be able to do that free calling from their phones instead of just their computers, and none of this would count against their minutes.
Sounds pretty good right?
The only downside is that you have to have a voice and data plan. So what Verizon loses in revenue from international fees and overage charges, they make up for when customers purchase more expensive smart phones and data usage plans.
But still this is a move in the right direction for phone companies, wonder how AT&T will retaliate?
