This is really sick (not like "yeah bro siiiick kick flip!", but like "you are so sick in your head for writing these"), but it needed to be shared.

YogueIN Posts Most Dangerous Post Yet; Gang Signs

We've just been wanting to know what some of the hand signs mean in the music video's we've watched.

This diagram wasn't all that helpful actually, but we didn't know that the Westside/West Coast had different hand signs. So that was enlightening.

Additionally, there are some of these signs that no matter how we try, we can't force our hands to be in that formation.

Can you make all of them?

ps. This is a borepost. Sorry.

YogueIN Etiquette Rule Of The Day: Speaker Phone

The conversation should always go something like this:

Gwen (turns on the speaker phone): Hey Dev, you're here on speaker, Meredith says hi

Dev: Hey Meredith

Meredith: Hey

*****************

So this is actually making the best out of not an ideal situation, ideally Gwen wouldn't answer the phone on speaker just in case Dev didn't want to talk to Meredith and vice versa. There is a reason that Dev wasn't calling Meredith. But the good news is, you've alerted the caller to the fact that a. other people are listening, and b. just in case caller (Dev in this case) still wants to say something crazy, you let Dev know that it's Meredith in the room so at least Dev doesn't say anything bad about Meredith.

Also, it's never a good idea to talk on speaker phone in the same room where someone is watching a movie. We know what you're thinking, and the answer is apparently it doesn't. Apparently that tip doesn't not go without saying.

Follow-Up To Last Post

Sorry, when we're at work, and when we go to blog, it's kind of hard to make a YogueToon. So sorry if everything is a *borepost.

Also, we were talking to our sister the other day, and someone wrote her this email where instead of saying "You may not want to see me" he said, "you may not want to burn your time with someone of lesser patronage"

Like, what is that?

Why do people say stuff like that?

This Writing to Persuade article, that we rambled about in our last post, has a line in it where the author says that sometimes people will write as though they have "turned his/her chairs away from his/her listeners and is mumbling at length to the wall, and then heads for home without a backward glance"

We think that is such a legit description of what happens all the time.

Something we are really going to try to do in the upcoming months is realize that people have things that try to kill them everyday ie: brutal jobs, brutal roommates, a cheese burger with onions on it, skirt stuck in their nylons etc etc, and with this realization we are going to try to make sure that the way we talk to other people doesn't add to that list of daily assassins.

*borepost- noun - boring blog post.
sample sentence - "Wow did you read that post in The Huffington Post Living section today?" "No dude it was a borepost, I couldn't get through it"

Wyntour Reads Really Interesting Article At Work; Is Still So Surprised; Also Usually Spells Surprised Incorrectly; Gets It Right; Is Surprised Again

Anyone who has ever worked with lawyers knows that there can be a lot of conversations that go like this:

Gwen: Hey, can we borrow that pen?

Lawyer: As the rightful owner of said property and in recognition of the petitioners failure to blah blah

:::Gwen dies::::

:::Lawyer doesn't notice keeps talking:::

Okay so obviously an exaggeration but you know what we mean. We are always feeling like we have to translate what is actually being said to us. Not to mention the fact that the answer/question/conversation whatever it is is always so loooong. Can't it just be "Can I borrow a pen" "no" or "where does this file go?" "over there". The end. No. More. Talking.

It can never be that.

The good news: Today during lunch we read this article that didn't kill us. It was a hard copy article so we don't have a link but basically it was talking about what lawyers, and everyone can do to make their writing/ communication more user/listener friendly. The article was kind of funny also because it talked about how Judges die when reading lawyers briefs and memorandums too! The authors exact words were,
"Judges are human. I know this because I spotted one at Wal-Mart once. They have lives outside the courtroom and their time... is valuable...deliver the information quick[ly], and make it enjoyable"
So we guess what we're trying to say is that this is a really good article and ..  .... . . .. yeah.

Ps. The title of the article is "Writing to Persuade" - Bryan Pattison

Facebook Rules For Life

It's no secret. We hate Facebook, and we found another reason why! You know how there is an option on Facebook that allows each user to put his or her favorite quotation?

Well what do you guys think about people who put something like the following:

"Live life to the fullest and never have any regrets!!" - Me

or

"Life is a marathon not a sprint drink lots of water!!!" - Me

or

" I have a dream..." - Me

Haha okay so maybe we exaggerated a little bit on the last one, but it's not that far off. So a couple rules to follow when updating the "quote" portion of your Facebook profile.

1. Try to be original. Quotations like, "Life's a journey not a destination" it's like... people are saying that all the time... so try something else.

2. Don't quote yourself. "blah blah generic blah blah lame blah" - Me, Just trust us on this one.

3. Don't combine the problems of number 1 and number 2. example: "Life's a journey not a destination" - Me, Cause it's generic, and even if you said the quotation one time, you're not the author of it.

Pretty obvious stuff, but like, not that obvious because some of you are still doing it so . .. . ...... .. . . .yeah.

Talking Like A Baby When You're An Adult: Hot or Not?

This cartoon is exaggerating, but only a very little bit. Something I've experienced for most of my time here in Utah... and even a little bit before... are people talking to me like I am a baby!

I don't really understand it, and I don't understand what would cause someone, specifically in a professional setting to "babytalk" another adult.

What do you guys think? Is babytalking the new way to sound polite? Are you someone who has/uses a baby voice and can you shed light on the problem? Have you ever heard a man babytalk another adult, or is this just a woman's problem?

Let us know.

Love & Friendship (WARNING: EMO POST BELOW!)

"True love must include the idea of permanence"

We love our siblings
and our parents so much too.
Can't wait to be home.

Haikus For Gwen

Judge, Judge, Judge, Judge, Judge
My life is better than yours
And you should know it.
----------------------------

Tell me a secret.
I will not keep it for you,
It's my new weapon
----------------------------

And what about this?
Does it hurt when I do that?
That's good. I am glad.
----------------------------

I never liked you.
Love? Ha! Out of the question
Bet you couldn't tell.

"I'll Kiss You, Double Dare Me!"

Woohoo!

This has been a roller coaster week for sure. Our sister returned from Ghana this week, and brought back one of her African songs that we are loving! As she mentioned, the english in the song is pretty much nonsense, but the beat is great. We love this group!

Germany Writes An Open Letter To Greece; Calls Them Lazy

We don't know anything about German/Greek politics, so we were surprised when we came across this letter that a German paper wrote to Greece. To get the background you'll have to click here.

Dear prime minister,

If you're reading this, you've entered a country different from yours. You're in Germany.
Here, people work until they are 67 and there is no 14th-month salary for civil servants. Here, nobody needs to pay a €1,000 bribe to get a hospital bed in time.
Our petrol stations have cash registers, taxi drivers give receipts and farmers don't swindle EU subsidies with millions of non-existent olive trees.
Germany also has high debts but we can settle them. That's because we get up early and work all day.
We want to be friends with the Greeks. That's why since joining the euro, Germany has given your country €50bn.

Do you know anything about this? Initial thoughts??

What's Happening In Baltimore?

This past weekend our sister was walking through Hamden (a Baltimore community) and she came across a woman who had an asthma inhaler in one hand, and a cigarette in the other.

Happy puffing!

Tiger Woods Kisses Mom Inappropriately; Dilutes Message

While we will provide more indepth commentary of Tiger Woods' most recent press conference by way of our new sports writer, Smoke Jackson, we did feel it was important to address our readers concerns about the following image.

A source close to the golfer explained that, "People aren't sure why Tiger decided to do this to his mother at a nationally televised press conference. But we can definitely take it as an indication that he will be in rehab for much longer than previously anticipated..." When asked about his personal feelings regarding what will now be known as "The Kiss" the source declined any further comment.

Weight Watchers gathering goes... Vogue.

The floor, where a weight watchers weigh in was taking place, collapsed recently in south-central Sweden. Here is a first hand account:

"We suddenly heard a huge thud; we almost thought it was an earthquake and everything flew up in the air.
"The floor collapsed in one corner of the room and along the walls," one Weight Watchers participant told the Smålandsposten newspaper.
Soon, the fault lines spread around the room, and other sections of the floor gave way.
Luckily, all of the dieters escaped uninjured and managed to move the scales to the corridor, which was not damaged in the accident, and were able to complete their weekly weigh in. The cause of the floor's collapse remains under investigation.

It's hard to stop laughing, mainly because like...how could the cause of the collapse still be under investigation?

Could you figure it out?
